"I will leave it to the delegates to decide who should be the next chief," she said. "Whoever is chosen, I am sure she will be able to carry out her duties with the utmost competence," said Noraini, who is vacating her post due to Puteri Umno's age limit.
Outgoing Puteri Umno chief Datuk Noraini Ahmad will stay neutral in the contest to succeed her next March.
"It is not fair for me to side with any of the candidates."
Noraini, who is Parit Sulong member of parliament and Deputy Human Resources Minister, said she was confident the delegates' choice would be able to continue with the movement's work.
"I have known them (the candidates) since Puteri Umno was formed eight years ago.
The three current candidates are vice-chief Rosnah Abdul Rashid, information chief Datuk Shahaniza Shamsudin and executive councillor Datin Ismalina Ismail.
Noraini said the contest was not likely to lead to divisions in the movement.
